Poutine and halal wings on Harbord Street

Cheese curds and gravy, and wings you can order without asking where the chicken came from — a few minutes from the university, to eat in or to take away.

The poutine

Fries, cheese curds and gravy — made the plain way, without anything on top that would make it something else. It comes hot enough that the curds are still going soft when it reaches you, which is the whole point.

The wings

Crispy wings by the pound, served with fries, and halal — the same certified meat as everything else the kitchen cooks, which is harder to find in this part of town than it should be. Sauces to pick from: Maple, Jerk, Hot, Buffalo and Godzilla.

And the fries themselves

Plain, Cajun and Truffle fries — on their own, or as the side that comes with the wings. The oil they are cooked in is never the one used for vegetarian food, and never the other way round.

Cheaper on the day

On Monday it is the poutine. On Wednesday it is the wings. The deals are read from the kitchen's till, so the menu page always shows the ones actually running.

Asked about this

Are the chicken wings halal?

Yes. All the meat in the kitchen is halal, wings included, from a supplier with a certificate for it.

What sauces come with the wings?

You pick one: Maple, Jerk, Hot, Buffalo and Godzilla. They are tossed in it, not served on the side.

Is the poutine made with real cheese curds?

Yes — curds and gravy over fries, the plain version. No pulled meat or extra toppings unless you order something to go with it.
